Northern Colorado Wildlife

The wildlife in Colorado is as diverse as the terrain itself. Colorado is home to everything from prairie dogs to rattle snakes to beavers to bears and mountain lions and don't forget about the birds! Colorado has an amazing bird population as well.
We want to view the wildlife in the area without destroying our relationship with it. We can all enjoy the outdoors by following a few simple rules.
Remember on your journeys outdoors to look at the signs that are posted and stay aware of your surroundings. We want to preserve the wildlife and trails throughout the area by "leaving no trace" of our visitation to the area.
Carry a stick with you on your hikes. If you do come across a mountain lion, you want to fight back. Never turn and run! It's also good to have a stick in case you come across a snake.
Stay on the trail. By leaving the trail, we are causing damage to the land surrounding the trail and we may come across an unlikely animal. The trails were built for your safety and that of the animals'. Unless you are with a guide, stay on the trail!
Have fun!
